Symphony at Sunset

Event grounds will be open all day for picnic-goers to set up early, as space will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Bring low chairs to avoid blocking the view for others.

The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation, in partnership with Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (VSO), is excited to announce the return of Symphony at Sunset, a free open-air concert taking place on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Sunset Beach Park.

Conducted by the VSO's Music Director Otto Tausk, this sunset performance by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra will include well-known film scores and classical favourites including Harry Potter and Star Wars.

How to get there

Conveniently located at Sunset Beach, the location is easy to get to by bike, transit, ferry, or by foot from the downtown core.

By transit

Located right off Beach Avenue, the 23 Beach bus takes you directly to the event site. The 23 bus route starts at Main Street Skytrain station and passes through both the Stadium and Yaletown Skytrain stations. Other bus routes operating close to the event site includes both the Robson bus and Davie Street Bus.

By bike

If you're planning to bike to the concert, Bike Valet and bike racks will be available for you to park and lock your bike while you enjoy the event. Bike Valet and bike rack capacity is limited and available on a first come first serve basis.

By ferry

False Creek Ferries will have extra ferries running until 10:30pm from Sunset Beach.

By car

Parking in the area is very limited, but if you must drive, consider parking in Stanley Park and walking to the event site. Arrive early and allow plenty of time to find parking.
Road closures
- Thurlow St, between Pacific and Beach, will be closed from 4pm to 10pm
- Beach Ave, between Thurlow and Jervis, will be closed from 7pm to 11pm
  Beach Ave, between Thurlow and Jervis, will be open to local traffic only from 4pm to 7pm
- Bute St, between Pacific and Beach, will be closed from 7pm to 11pm
Parking
On-street parking will be very limited. Watch for posted “No Parking” signage.

Parking lot closures
- Jervis lot
- Sunset Beach lot except for accessible drop-off
- Vancouver Aquatic Centre, north lot
An accessible drop-off area will be available at Sunset Beach lot until 7pm. Pick up will be available after 10pm, once roads have re-opened.

Accessible viewing area

There will be an accessible viewing area located on the south side of the event grounds.
